New Release Review: WE OWN TONIGHT by Corinne Michaels

From New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling author Corinne Michaels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE romance novel.

WE OWN TONIGHT is available now!

I’m not a one-night stand kind of woman. I’m especially not the woman who has a few drinks at a concert and ends up in bed with my childhood celebrity crush, Eli Walsh.
However, that’s exactly where I find myself.
What’s a girl to do after a drunken mistake? Run. I grab my clothes and get away from the powerful, irresistible, and best-sex-of-my-life superstar as fast as I can. His gorgeous green eyes, rock-hard body, and cocky smile have no place in my world. My life is complicated enough.
Someone forgot to tell him that.
Eli is relentless. Pushing his way into my heart, wearing me down, proving he’s nothing like I assumed, and everything I need. But when my world shatters to pieces, he holds the broken bits together. Unwillingly, I fall desperately in love with him.
He made me think we’d have forever . . . I should’ve listened when he said we could only own tonight.

I have been blown away by Corinne Michaels. I went into this story blind not knowing any details about it, but still having high expectations based upon previous books I’ve read by Michaels. Those high expectations were not only met, but exceeded. The plot of the story was so much more than I could’ve had imagined I needed to read. Michaels made a basic, cheesy premise and injected such heart and passion into it making this novel feel so authentic.

These characters were mature in their late 30’s-early 40’s and pleasantly surprised me. I typically don’t read books about older characters, because I find it hard to connect to them and their situations. That was not the case here. This story was part embodiment of just about everyone’s fantasy, and part truth that allowed for a very relatable tone throughout.

The secondary characters were a delight in this story, really adding an extra layer of depth to the characters. The hero, Eli, and heroine, Heather were such complex characters with a realness to them that you cannot deny. Heather is a strong woman, but not without real-life problems and responsibilities. She’s reserved and a bit of a homebody, but a fun and caring individual. Eli’s profession as a member of a boy band leads him to meet Heather. His physical allure and career status means he’s no stranger to the ladies, but he’s cautious as he’s had his heart broken severely in the past. Although that doesn’t keep him from pursuing Heather, the one woman who has been able to look past WHAT he is and focus on WHO he is. This is a couple that is not without problems, but one that you can believe in wholeheartedly.

This novel has elements of light-heartedness and good ol’ nostalgia, but it also deals with feelings on the other side of the spectrum. It has so many levels, but all of them will manage to pull out intense emotions whether you’re on board or not. Another noteworthy attribute is the foreshadowing that Michaels’ knocked out of the park. The intricate plotting that Michaels created and laid out for readers was done so perfectly.

This romance novel was all-consuming and will surely have you secluding yourself from the rest of the world for a few hours. WE OWN TONIGHT contains such beautiful writing and compelling characters. It surpasses the title of a great read. I highly recommend it!
