Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend...

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)
Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.
Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.
Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve...

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…

Piggybacking off the bestselling Reasonable Doubt series, this hilarious friends to lovers standalone was a breath of fresh air. It was lighter, yet still as sexy in it’s own way. For me, getting a new book from Whitney is like winning the lottery, so you can imagine how excited I was when this precious popped up on my Kindle.
This book started off with a bang! It had a really great comedic intro where we get to see the situation between young Arizona and Carter. The scenes following that show a grown up Carter with his current girl, which had me giggling like a madwoman. Basically I was laughing pretty much all the way through this book.

Arizona and Carter have been best friends since the fifth grade fourth grade. They’ve been through it all side by side. They’ve been there for each other whenever their relationships go down the drain, usually because of the pair’s closeness. Boyfriends, girlfriends, family, friends, they all question the validity of their “just friends” label, but that’s really what it is. In the beginning anyways.

Their platonic mindset for one another suddenly begins to shift and the veil is lifted from both their eyes. But right when these newly awakened feelings start surfacing, Ari and Carter are about to separate—Ari is off to culinary school and Carter is staying in town to finish up law school.
Will Ari and Carter take their relationship to the next level or will their friendship end up shattered?

Everything about these two amazing characters pulled me in and everything about their relationship made me giddy. The instant they realized how attractive they were was highly amusing. In theory, it sounds absurd, but when you’re reading it it makes complete sense. And if you’re like me, you’ve lived it, so you can relate to what they’re both going through in that exact moment of epiphany.
Ari and Carter had the kind of dream relationship where your significant other isn’t just a lover but your best friend. They share a special type of bond that is truly envious.

Aside from the overall comedy in the story, the banter was superb and really made this book. Their relationship really felt authentic to that of true best friends.
The texts, the emails, the friendly squabbles. Absolutely ADORABLE!!
The flashbacks that took us back to the past were cute and funny letters between them which gave the story a proper foundation. They were perfectly placed within the book and never distracted from what was happening in the present. The flashbacks solidified the strong friendship and added depth to the characters, as well as the story.

Though difficult endure, I rather enjoyed the trial they had to go through in order to realize what they needed. It gave the story heart and wasn’t a quick transition with an automatic happily ever after. I really felt the emotions from both of them during that tough and confusing time. There was a really great balance between sweet and sexy throughout the book that made this book incredibly enjoyable.

By the end of the book, my mouth was in a permanent smile. That has never happened before! The only thing negative I have about it is that the end seemed a tad bit rushed. I just really wish this book had an epilogue. I fell HARD for these characters and grew so attached to them in the 270+ pages, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to them. I needed a little extra to  fully feel satiated with their new romantic relationship.

A little bit of sweet, funny, and sexy bundled together for an all around heartwarming, good time story. Highly recommend it to those fans of the friends to lovers trope.
