✭Book Review✭ Need: Part 1 by K.I. Lynn & N. Isabelle Blanco

Sometimes love happens at first sight, even when you’re at an age where you can’t comprehend what it means.
It was just a crush. They were only kids, after all. But what happens when that feeling never goes away?
Brayden and Kira have been neighbors for years, and best friends since they met. They have a connection that is evident to many, and it’s haunted them their whole lives.
Teenage hormones rage, turning their friendship into something neither can handle. The attraction is carnal, all-consuming, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Brayden loses control.
Everything slams to a halt when their single parents decide to get remarried . . . to each other. Bad decisions and broken friendships make living across the hall from the one person you want above all difficult. Luckily for Brayden, it’s only for a few months before he’s off to college in another state, leaving Kira to face high school alone.
Brayden tries to stay away, to forget her, but it’s an impossible task he fails at time and time again. Kira is morphing from a sexy teenager to an irresistible woman, one that knows what she wants and seems hell-bent on getting it.
As Kira’s eighteenth birthday approaches, Brayden has a decision to make. Does he keep running away from the thing he wants the most or does he run toward it?
Is it possible to ever be happy without the one person you need?

"I'm Brayden, baby. The man you've been dreaming about your whole life. And I'm about to fucking show you why."

Part 1 of a 2 part series.

::: Dual POV | Step-sibling romance | Cliffhanger | Part 1 of 2 :::

From the moment I read the first teaser, I knew I had to get hands on this book. I can understand the taboo quality of step-sibling romances, but in this case, Braydon and Kira were best friends above all else. Already late in their teens, B&K didn’t grown up with a sibling mentality, therefore they story never seemed inappropriate or strange. What really drew me to the story was the intense connection B&K had. The friends to lovers aspect is what truly made me eager to read Need.

This book is an angst-filled tug of war between the two main characters.
Braydon, Ryan and Kira have been best friends since childhood. Kira had a crush on Braydon since the moment she laid eyes on him. Braydon felt the same way, but his friendship with Kira’s older brother always hindered his heart’s desire. Not to mention the slight age difference. A continuous cycle of lust and denial occurs throughout the rest of the story, but it’s the inner struggles of each individual that brings out the emotional side of this story.

I’m her man. She’s my girl. I’m coming for her, whether she wants me to or not.

Need is split into two books, but part one is pretty long book. However it’s not unnecessarily lengthy. Kira and Braydon’s story is extremely angsty in the best way possible. There’s some humor dripped into the story and other moments of pure tenderness and kindness that helps soothe that angst.

I loved the way Kira knew exactly what she wanted and didn’t let anyone sway her from it. Even as a 15 year old girl, she was strong and feisty. She’s an expert at handling Braydon and his consistent mood changes.
Despite the distance between them and the people that get in the way, B&K’s passion never diminishes.

I miss her. Miss her so fucking much my heart hurts, but I have to stay away. Shouldn't that have stopped by now? Shouldn’t that all-consuming ache be less, not more?

It’s going to be tense and bumpy journey, but I’m looking forward to a happy ending in the final installment. K.I. Lynn and N. Isabelle Blanco have made a good pairing and their cohesive writing makes for a promising series.

K.I. Lynn is the USA Today Bestselling Author from The Bend Anthology and the Amazon Bestselling Series, Breach. She spent her life in the arts, everything from music to painting and ceramics, then to writing. Characters have always run around in her head, acting out their stories, but it wasn’t until later in life she would put them to pen. It would turn out to be the one thing she was really passionate about. Since she began posting stories online, she’s garnered acclaim for her diverse stories and hard hitting writing style. Two stories and characters are never the same, her brain moving through different ideas faster than she can write them down as it also plots its quest for world domination…or cheese. Whichever is easier to obtain… Usually it’s cheese.

Isabelle Blanco is the Amazon Bestselling Author of the Allure Series, the Compulsions Series, and many others. She was born in Queens, NY (USA). At the age of three, due to an odd fascination with studying her mother’s handwriting, she began to read and write. By the time she’d reached kindergarten, she had an extensive vocabulary and her obsession with words began to bleed into every aspect of her life. An avid reader in her teens, her fascination with Japanese anime eventually led her to the universe of fan fiction, which became her on-again, off-again hobby for the next ten years. During that time she amassed a following of fans that, by her own admission, she would never be able to live without. It was those fans who encouraged her to step beyond the fan fiction realm and try her talent in the publishing world. N. Isabelle Blanco spends her days working as an author, web programmer, marketer, and graphic designer. That is when she isn’t handling her “spawn”, as she calls her son, and brainstorming with him about his future career as a comic book illustrator.
