Title: The Billionaire Bargain Part 1
Series: The Billionaire Bargain #1
Author: Lila Monroe
 Release Date: January 22, 2015

Sexy Australian billionaire Grant Devlin is ruining my life. He exercises shirtless in his office, is notorious for his lunchtime nooners, he even yawns sexily. If I didn't need this job so bad, I'd take his black Amex and tell him where to swipe it.

He doesn't even know I exist, but why would he? He jets off to Paris with supermodels, I spend Friday nights with Netflix and a chunk of Pepperidge Farm frozen cake—waiting for his call. Because every time he crashes his yacht, or blows $500k on a single roulette spin in Monte Carlo, I’m the PR girl who has to clean up his mess.

But this time, it’s going to take more than just a fat charity donation. This time, the whole company is on the line. He needs to show investors that he’s settling down, and Step #1 is pretending to date a nice, stable girl until people forget about what happened with the Playboy Bunnies backstage at the Oscars.

My plan is perfect, except for one thing:

He picks me.

:: 1st person | Female POV | Serial | Cliffhanger ::

Meet Grant Devlin…
"You might think I'm exaggerating his attractiveness. I'm not. Picture a handsome man. No, more handsome than that. Square that jaw line, brush those brown curls with gold, darken those blue eyes till they're almost black, deep sapphire pools made for mooning over. Deepen that voice until it's like dark chocolate, and thread it through with a sexy chameleon accent--one second so crisp and upper class it might almost be British, the second relaxing into long lazy vowels that conjured up visions of him kicking back beers on a sunny Australian beach...lean muscular sailor's physique...tan...he's a bronzed Adonis.”

Long description but you totally get the idea, right?! This CEO billionaire is out of control and his PR people at Devlin Media Corp. have their hands full.
Since her superior, Jacinda is the devil, Lacey Newman finds herself all on her own having to come up with a master plan in order to get Grant on a leash.

Grant takes her plan and twists it around, making her part of it. What exactly is the plan? Lacey must pretend to be his girlfriend so that company investors will see him as a stable, loving and responsible man.

The question circulating in Lacey’s head (as well as the reader) is whether Grant’s actions are sincere or just for show.

The thing I loved most about this book was Lacey. She’s fierce with a take-no-prisoners attitude. She might be quiet and to herself, but she speaks her mind to Grant. Sure she’s a human and a woman, so definitely not immune to Mr. Devlin’s striking good looks and delicious accent, but she’s not afraid to tell it like it is and put him in his place when needed.
Yet at the same time, I wanted to slap Lacey for being insanely immature at certain moments.

I wish we had at least one small chapter from Grant’s POV, but I’m hoping we’ll get it in the next book. It would be quite a ride to get inside that man’s head.
One of the problems I had with this book was not understanding Grant very well. Some of his actions didn’t connect with some of his others. One minute he’s a wild playboy and the next he’s coming off as a genuinely sweet and tame man. Grant seemed split into two different characters and it had me confused a bit during my reading. Here’s where a bit of Grant’s POV mixed in would have come in handy.

There’s some sexy going on between these two, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg in book one. We’re left on a cliffhanger that has me plotting what will happen next and it might just be a hot mess.

I can’t describe exactly what it was about the writing, but something about it had me disconnected from the story a bit. I wasn’t able to truly get on track with the characters. Nevertheless, I’m interested to see what happens next so I’ll be checking out the next installment.

Overall this was a fast, light read with descriptive language that will have you laughing your panties off. T’was a good debut novel from Lila Monroe.
