GeorgieI lie to survive. Have since I was sixteen and my world fell into chaos. But I found a way to endure, or rather it found me. Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control. Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart.
I kill for a living. Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie. But that ends now. I've played her game for far too long, but not anymore. Now I think it's time we play mine.
*18+ due to sexual content, strong language and violence.
Ughhh, Nashoda Rose, you lovely woman you!!
I was a bit late to the Tear Asunder party, but once I read Overwhelmed by You, I knew I had to have Deck’s story in my greedy little hands.
I’m all for stories about falling in love with the brother’s best friend type of deal, so when I heard about Deck and Georgie’s story, I was amped up to start.
Still, I was quite nervous going into this book and that nervousness stemmed primarily from Georgie. I just wasn’t sure what to expect from her. I’ve always liked her character, but I never felt like her character got anywhere as far as development. With her flirty and in-your-face attitude, she doesn’t come off as someone who could be matched with Deck.
Little did I know, there was so much more going on underneath her mask and vapid personality. Georgie has kept a lot to herself and has housed deep, darkness within her. It gets to a point where it’s just too much and it all needs to be let out. And she certainly can’t keep hiding it all from Deck.
Georgie really surprised me. Her character took an unexpected turn in my mind and I saw her in a whole new light.
❝Another year gone. Another year filled with lies.
This was who I needed to be.
The perfect chaos.
My perfect world had just been thrown into destructive chaos.❞
Deck’s protectiveness has been there since the moment he saw Georgie’s brother killed while off on deployment. He’s seen her at her highs and at her lows, and he’s been there to help her when she needed it most.
We get to see a lot more of Deck’s alpha side in many shapes and forms. If you thought he was sexy as hell before…unfff. *sigh*
I’m not even sure what side of him was hotter: strong, demanding Deck or vulnerable, sweet Deck. Either way, prepare yourself for the tingles and shivers, ladies.
The more the story progressed, the more I realized how perfect these two beings were meant for each other. I saw just how much one needed the other to breathe and vice versa.
❝You're my rainbow. The brilliant colors of you make me whole. Without your colors, I'm just a man living in the dark.❞
All throughout the novel, there was romance with sexy and tender moments, but mixed within that was Nashoda’s signature for dark, raw moments; dark scenes that oozed grit, suspense and action that came at you from left to right.
If you’ve read the Tear Asunder series, you’ll be satisfied with all the unveiled secrets that have been vaguely hinted at before. For those who haven’t read it, you’ll still be nail-biting your way through this book and gasping when the truth finally comes to light. Guarantee it!
Several of the supporting characters are also set up well for the continuation of the series. I’m already eager for the next book!
❝I wouldn’t yield to anyone. But I did. I yielded to Georgie. I’d let her seep into my veins and take hold, and no matter how many men I killed or women I fucked, I couldn’t get her out of me.❞
This book is able to be read as a stand alone, but I would really encourage you to read the Tear Asunder series first. These characters are first introduced there and I really think it gives that extra oomph to their relationship and story if you begin with those. There’s just a lot more time to really soak up little quirks and pieces of their puzzle that way. And don’t worry, those books are amazing as well!
